Concrete pavements employ steel dowel bars to enhance weight transfer and lessen faulting at joints. These are inserted into pre-drilled holes and secured with glue or epoxy. The said product provide a positive mechanical interlock, transferring loads across the joint without depending on the base or subbase for support. They protrude from each side of the joint. Steel dowel bars are small, round, smooth bars that provide a mechanical connection between slabs without limiting the movement of the horizontal joint.
